WIX + ActiveCampaign - Why integrate your Website with Marketing Automation

Michael Tucker

You heard it here: 2 + 2 = 14. Earlier this week Wix and ActiveCampaign announced that they have completed an integration between their Website / E-Commerce Tool and the Marketing Automation Platform. Both firms have built leading marketing tech products with two huge user bases in their respective segments of the Digital Marketer landscape. Up until this point, that bridge from website to the marketing automation platform, posed a series of challenges that are now solved in one simple integration.

That means that this week opened a “giant flood gate of opportunities” for Business Leaders to leverage their existing marketing tech spend to produce a whole range of new value with minimal additional efforts!

Why are Websites such a crucial part of Digital Marketing?

As Marketing Tech experts, we’ve come to appreciate that it takes the right mix of tools to create great experiences to turn prospective customers into actual ones. Yet the website – one of the oldest tools of the Internet – still remains a key focal point of every businesses that relies on digital marketing. Why is that?

As a marketer, ideally that journey almost always touches your website at some point or another. Because, along with your email list, it’s one of the few digital marketing assets that is considered Owned Media. You have 100% control over what’s on your website and can add and remove whatever you want, whenever you want it.

For Marketing and Sales professionals the real benefit is that you can use whatever marketing tool you want on it. And the insights are exclusively yours to use. Indeed, a website is the best focal point in your MarTech Stack to gain highly valuable insights about your visitors. It’s where your tracking tags, pixels, JavaScript, whatever you want to call them live for all of your tools.

The tradeoff, however, is that there you’re responsible for building your own audience to that site. You don’t have the user base of hundreds of thousands of Facebook and LinkedIn users or Google searches to direct to your content. It’s all on you and your business!

ActiveCampaign’s Role in Website Audiences

Hence the need for promotional marketing tactics like Email, Webinars, Digital Video, Social Media, and Paid Advertising are key digital channels. But with the mass audiences these properties command, there comes a growing cost… both in terms of money, and also complex rules and buying platforms that require specific skills to get the best Return on Ad Spend (ROAS).

And that’s where ActiveCampaign comes in. It’s the differentiator between you and all of the other advertisers on the major ad networks. When configured properly, you can inject data from your marketing campaigns – and not anyone else’s data - directly to target your advertising campaigns. It’s the difference between blindly fishing in a lake and using a sonar to see where all the fish are already swimming and then dropping in some bait.

So when Wix says that you can now send its native web forms and e-commerce purchases directly into ActiveCampaign, that’s an integration that you and your digital marketing team should consider implementing.

A Simple Yet Powerful Example to apply the new ActiveCampaign + Wix Integration

Here’s an easy first win with the Wix + ActiveCampaign integration.

  1. Capture some gated content form fill data in Wix. (Pro Tip: Ask a question on your form that you normally wouldn’t get from Facebook Ad Manager)
  2. Send the Contact data to ActiveCampaign via the integration
  3. Create a triggered Automation to send the lead to a Facebook Custom Audience list
  4. In Facebook Ad Manager, launch a campaign from the Custom Audience with a Lookalike Audience using the same piece of gated content

The results?

Your Facebook ad reaches people who are similar to people who have already expressed an interest in working with your business. Better yet, they’re brand new leads who have never heard of you before.
